Rebuilding a Life Team
I got some feedback from ‘Who’s on Your Team?’ that people relate to wanting to have a Life Team, to be with people who have each others’ back, but...
Depending on what stage of life we’re in, how many times we’ve had to relocate, and how much energy or time we have, it can be difficult to connect.
Plus, while social media supposedly makes it easier for us to connect, it doesn’t and can’t satisfy the deep need for human connection.
This is encouragement to listen: listen to those deep needs that you have for real, meaningful, nourishing connection in your life with others.
This is encouragement to be realistic: grieve where it’s not there. Grieve where it used to be there or ways that it used to be there.
When wanting more meaningful team connection, ask yourself: Am I negating or acknowledging the threads of connection, or Team, that I do have? How can I strengthen those threads? Look to establish or strengthen threads with groups that have a meaningful mission or intent that’s in alignment with what I care about in life - so I can contribute and so I can just have company. Company, help, and support through this oftentimes challenging life.
That’s my encouragement to you - and to me!
If you’re feeling disconnected, look inside and be honest:
Where is the connection missing?
Be with your heart’s longing for connection.
Where and how is that longing sometimes met, even in small ways?
Strengthen those threads of connection.
Honor the longing for life. Grieve what’s lost, strengthen what’s good.
