Embody Your Skills: The Joy of Boundaries

Support for Trauma Practitioners

who want healthier boundaries for their clients and for themselves

When you’re a trauma practitioner in a re-traumatizing world, it’s hard to keep healthy boundaries.  Because boundaries are such a pervasive aspect of trauma work, we learn basic skills to help clients… yet to be more effective in our work, we need to deepen, practice, hone, develop and embody boundary skills over time.

Professionally, some of the signs that our boundaries are shaky are: feeling like you’re taking home your clients’ trauma or activation; a difficulty with business and career development (money, networking, advertising); going through the motions at work (yuck!)

Boundaries are beautiful and necessary.

They allow us to keep out what’s not ours, and bring in what’s nourishing. Boundaries allow us to be in healthy relationship with ourselves and others.

My main intentions with Embody Your Skills 4-month small group is to broaden your boundary skills with clients, to deepen your own sense of healing, and to enjoy your boundaries.

We can’t get away from the traumas of this world.  Yet we can do something that makes all the difference.  We can stay in contact with strength, power, vitality, love, and healing – in our own bodies

Life is short, and there’s so much we have to give and to receive.  Please join me if this resonates. Together is better.

Embody Your Skills: The Joy of Boundaries 4-month small group is for practitioners who want:

·       To be more effective with clients

·       To develop professionally while deepening personally

·       To have nourishment amidst the intensity!  Practitioners need guidance, companionship, and dedicated time to honor what it takes to show up in integrity rather than burn out going through the motions.

While there are hundreds of somatic and trauma webinars and trainings available, there are few safe spaces to integrate your own somatic learning.  Get mobilized by the synergy of being with other dedicated colleagues and friends who support your health, well-being, and growth amidst this troubled world.  Take care of yourself while you take care of others.

F.A.Q.

Who is this for?  What skill level?

This particular group is limited to Somatic Experiencing Practitioners.  If you’re not an SE professional, please contact me for other embodiment and professional offerings!

What does a session look like?

Group time begins with greetings and a guided grounding embodiment; sharing and learning from each others’ experience; introduction of a basic embodied boundary skill or theme; discussion interwoven with practices; questions, and sharings that come directly out of the practices – all of these ways of learning a deeper embodied sense of a basic skill.

Is there homework?

Only if you want it!  I offer suggestions for deepening embodied boundaries, and many people find it very helpful to partner with another participant on the weeks in between meetings.

Is there something supportive that’s easier than homework?

Yes!  Sessions are recorded, and afterwards you’ll receive the recording, marked with the time when the guided embodiments begin, and how long they are.  You can choose which ones to repeat whenever you wish.  Some people enjoy listening regularly as a help to establish a daily embodiment practice.

What Embody Your Skills

Participants Say:

  • “This would be great any time, and it’s especially relevant with the added stresses of our society struggling to deal with racial injustices, climate crisis, and the ongoing pandemic. I need this space to land, to get a perspective, and get rejuvenated.”

  • “Amy sends recordings after each class. I use one of her 10-minute guided embodiments every morning. I’ve tried to meditate and do other practices before but they haven’t stuck. This is sticking and making a difference.”

  • “It’s changed how I hold myself with clients. I have a tendency to lose track of myself and overly identify and merge. What a relief to be more comfortable, and really okay in myself.”
